My work in video and installation reflects an interest in impermanence and how memories interact with our present moment.
Using materials that are familiar to daily routines, I am interested in encountering both the mundane and the hyper ‘now’ that is usually lost in our routines—the space between what we consume, desire and throw away. In my recent work I focus on things that are often lost to us, either to memory or overlooked in the things we do and make day to day. The vintage Adidas tops reminded me of rave culture in the early 90’s. The video shows food that is only good for a short amount of time. Both captured for me a similar sense of time, of the shortness of things.
I have an interest in site specific work, and working in in-between spaces, which has been developed by reading Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias by Michel Foucault. My work has been influenced by artists such as Mark Leckey and Song Dong, and growing up in the UK in the 1990’s and 2000’s.
