Olivia Dupé
My practice undertakes a diaristic process of creating and encountering histories.
Traces of being and doing; trying and failing; decaying and reviving.
Drawing upon personal archives and ephemera and teasing them out into temporary arrangements that together map a superposition of memory and physical embodiment. Grappling with the intangibility of control and the absurdity of expectations of consistency onto inconsistent beings, a pressure arises. These temporary mappings test the line between a loss of control and the desire to regain it, encountered in the intimate space of one’s body and that of the institutional and physiological structures that shape and govern its functioning.
