Lana Knezevic

All I want is to be seen and understood and for you too look me in the eye and tell me exactly what you are thinking and feeling.

I work with text across video and mixed media. I respond to what it means to be human, to occupy a body – to be a body. Inspired by the personal and the mundane, my self-reflective and introspective writing transcribes the awkward, doubting, and neurotic thoughts and qualities of our interactions with other people – thoughts that scrutinize our behaviour, body language and composure. I look for ways to connect with the viewer through establishing a common ground – relatability, sincerity, transparency, and vulnerability. I incorporate humorous elements while exploring heavy subjects in a space where there is no shame, and the crumbling weight of being alive is lessened by sharing and recognising; we are one and the same; I feel what you feel.
