Lachlan Stonehouse

I primarily work with oil on canvas adhered to wood creating woven canvas to construct a lattice effect, I then make incisions removing oppositional squares within the material grid. The basis for my work revolves around colour chart strategies and randomised compositional orders. The materiality dictates an irregularity of repetition and the similarities and differences that arise, generate the methodical approach in producing the work asking questions to repetition, pattern-making and the controlled destruction of surface, giving rise to paradoxical transformation.
