Imogen Grieve

My work is an exploration of spaces of waiting. Spaces where a body is held in suspended animation for an undetermined amount of time, before it can accomplish its goal, receive news, or take its appointment. I have made imprints of these waiting spaces by way of sonic recordings, picking up frequencies outside of the scope of human hearing, alluding to a dimension of the world that we cannot access, and revealing invisible soundwaves that penetrate and affect our bodies in these spaces without our knowledge. This movement of soundwaves is similar to the act of waiting; it is a necessary act of allowing the boredom, anxiety and frustration engulf us, because usually waiting is out of our control. We sit on designated seats, process foreign noises, smells and surroundings until it is our turn. Until we are released.
