I see stars everywhere.

In my friend’s art and their tattoos,
on tags and street art,
looking up at the sky, the sun,
at Brighton beach, snorkeling with those chunky starfish on the reef,
on a tram with a person 'running' a bright pink mo-hawk haircut.

I see stars everywhere.
I feel lucky when I spot someone with a mo-hawk hairstyle.
They make me think of those starfish.

I pick stuff up, most places I go.
Things in gutters, under park benches and in skip bins.
Thin steel rods that fall off street sweepers, or abandoned bike helmets.
Junk.

My friends, who care for the gardens on campus, bring me grass clippings in big plastic bags.
Steel-rebar; bike helmets; zip-ties; hair ties; milk crates; grass clippings; non-slip safety tiles; these materials I do take. They have been discarded or are in excess.
I don't pick up everything, not everything is mine to pick up.

I see stars everywhere.
These shapes are important.
This is a practice of gathering, gleaning, scrounging, chance based encountering.
