Frances Waite
Through stitching, taping and taxidermy, my work transforms found material – once considered banal and domestic – into artefacts of mythical origin. Forgery becomes a legitimate means of restoration, as the line between fact and fiction disintegrates.
The practice ritualises the picking and peeling of historical imagination. The palimpsestuous sculptures form a productive entanglement of the present and past; challenging the audience's relationship to both personal and collective histories.
