Emily Siddons

I developed an original model of museum engagement responding to the conditions of contemporaneity and our digitised experience. Researching New Museum's incubator model NEW INC and creating a born-digital museum, the relationship between a museum's space, archive and collection was reconsidered and the museum reframed as a collaborative facility.

Subspace is a self-organised museum that explores how the digitisation of our existence affects how we see, hear, think and feel.

By dismantling traditional museum structures and rebuilding them in collaboration with artists, Subspace experiments with ways to produce and disseminate cultural content in digital environments.

Subspace has been designed and developed by Melanie Huang and Omar Mashaal and has launched with five commissions by Léuli Eshrāghi, Trent Crawford, Daniel Jenatsch and Anna Kate Blair.
