The overlapping and separation of commercial and artistic photography informs my practice. High fashion magazine imagery is appropriated and situated next to images taken in a makeshift studio.
Looking Through The Window features technically perfect ‘bad pictures’ due to the exposed background of the images. Clotheslines, pegs and tape are used to hold up creased backdrops, displaying floral arrangements in a suburban setting.
Don’t You Know Who I Am? pushes the boundaries of what photography requires to convey information by appropriating well-known magazine covers. The individual's body is covered with a superimposed shape. The context clues left are easily recognisable for audiences familiar with the image and become a barrier to those who are unfamiliar.
