Demi Kromidellis

Demi Kromidellis' art practice focuses on migration, the navigation of changing environments and sense of belonging. She is a 3rd Generation Greek migrant. She uses photography to delve into her family experience, focusing on the household as a medium to retain cultural significance. In her recent photo series, she acknowledges cultural practices that have been passed down through generations, while also exploring the extent to which these practices endure for future generations. Demi uses screen printing techniques contrasted against the deep colours elicited from the darkroom process to highlight how these visual components reflect the culture of a country left behind, yet allows the Greek community to feel a sense of familiarity and belonging. Through the process of archiving the past and present, Demi finds herself navigating how her Greek background has impacted her sense of belonging in Australia.
