Graduate Certificate of Visual Art

I am an emerging artist interested in exploring identity and challenging perception and understanding. I am interested in duality and oppositions and how they coexist. The work developed through my studies in the Graduate Certificate of Visual Art is an attempt to create a visual language to represent the impact of micro-aggressions on a person. Seemingly innocent and harmless words and phrases often spoken without consideration. These comments accumulated over many years and the mark they leave.

I am interested in exploring the possibilities for a specific visual language that can be both effective and affective. I am interested in the print medium for its deceptive simplicity and the multitude of expressive qualities including mark making, scratching, textural variations, shade and tone achievable through this medium.
