Allie Currie

My artistic practice centres around my deep-seated fascination with colour and abstract forms, firmly grounded in the realms of photography and sculpture. I strive to make images, not take images.

Within a contemporary art landscape that undervalues positivity, I consciously choose to emphasize the brighter, more optimistic facets of human emotions. My work is infused with elements of playfulness, humour and joy. Ultimately, my inner child becomes the driving force, something that is not physically noticeable, but deeply felt.

Exploring the manipulation of ready-mades, with a particular focus on clothing items imbued with personal significance, I am interested in the concept of the absent body. Embodiment and disembodiment come into question- how can a sense of permanency remain? These vessels that adorn and once encompassed varying individuals become frozen in time, similar to the act of taking a photograph.
